Zur Lehre im Fach Arbeitsmedizin für Medizinstudenten

Aim of the study: The teaching of Occupational Medicine at the University of Ulm was compared to the recommendations given by the German Society for Occupational and Environmental Medicine (DGAUM). These serve as a common basis for the teaching in Germany, according to the new government regulations. Methods and collective: The academic years 02/03 and 03/04 were analysed. The subjects in the course book (treated in 9 double lectures) are presented, and the written questions to each subject used for repetition, the students’ oral presentations and answers, and the questions and results of the final course examination are presented and analysed. Results: The comparison showed that the Ulm curriculum and DGAUM recommendations correspond well. The students particularly want to know about the structure of occupational medicine. The personal involvement (presentations and questions) is considered a very useful element of teaching. Conclusions: The DGAUM recommendations and our previous teaching correspond well. The didactic elements (repetition, students’ questions, oral presentations) are regarded positively.
